    • Only during specific dates and times – The limit applies only during the selected schedule.

Choose What the Limit Applies To

You can apply limits to specific products or to the whole cart.

Specific Products

Apply limits based on quantity, amount (does not convert the currency due to exchange rates movement), and/or weight (automatically converts product weight) for selected products or variants.

You can add products by:

  • Adding specific products

  • Adding a collection

  • Using filters to automatically include products that match your criteria

Whole Cart

Apply limits based on:

  • Total number of items

  • Total cart amount

  • Total cart weight

Set Limit Conditions

You can add up to two limit conditions per rule. The first limit must be met before proceeding to the second limit.

For Specific Products

  • Limit quantity per product – Restricts how many units of each product can be purchased

  • Limit amount per product – Restricts the total amount per product

  • Limit weight per product – Restricts the total weight per product

For the Whole Cart

  • Limit number of items in the cart

  • Limit total cart amount

  • Limit total cart weight

To add another condition, click Add Limit Condition.

Save and Activate the Limit

  1. Review your settings

  2. Click:

    • Save to activate the limit immediately. If Activate Later is selected, the limit will remain inactive after saving. If Scheduled is selected, the status will become Scheduled.

    • Save Draft to activate it later

What Customers See

When a limit is reached:

  • Customers are prevented from proceeding to checkout

  • A clear message explains what needs to be adjusted

  • Limits are enforced before checkout

Best Practices

  • Use product-level limits for high-demand or limited-stock items

  • Use cart-level limits to prevent bulk or abusive orders

  • Test the limit by adding items to the cart after saving

Troubleshooting

If an order limit isn’t working:

  • Make sure the Theme App Extension is enabled

  • Make sure the limit is enabled

  • Confirm the correct products or cart settings are selected

  • Refresh the storefront and test again
